Smartphones remain the leader in the number of requests. They account for about 75% of the total number of devices brought to our electronics repair workshops. In 2016–2019, this figure was much lower — around 40–50%. But as smartphone technology developed, phones began actively replacing tablets, laptops, e-books, and other devices. Statistics show that every year phones continue to take an increasingly larger share of the electronics repair market.

Tablets make up approximately 15% of the total number of devices brought to Ai-Yai-Yai for electronics repair. Here the statistics are noticeably different: while Samsung and Xiaomi lead among smartphones, Apple, Asus, and Lenovo are more common in the tablet category.

Device diagnostics for calculating repair cost and time

For a competent manager working in an electronics service center, in most cases the cause of the malfunction becomes clear already during a phone consultation with the customer, even before the visit to the workshop. Thanks to this, electronics fault diagnostics in our company are often performed remotely. The customer can find out in advance how much it will cost to repair the device and how long the repair will take.

Of course, in some cases accurate testing is impossible without disassembling the device and connecting professional equipment. But sometimes the problem can be solved already at the consultation stage. One such case was described by our engineer, who consulted a customer by phone:

“A customer contacted us with a problem: the gadget was not charging. First, I advised trying to connect the device with another cable and another power adapter. This did not help. After that, I suggested carefully cleaning the charging port with a thin object. The customer removed debris from the port, after which the tablet started charging again. Help was provided directly during the phone conversation. In such a situation, there is no need to spend time and money visiting the workshop if a simple problem can be solved independently.”
